Horwich womans horror after Peugeot ransacked on Rivington Lane

A CLEANER has expressed her horror and disbelief after her car was ransacked by thieves in the middle of the night.

Becca Martin, from Horwich, was shocked to find that several items had been stolen from her white Peugeot 107 when she woke up on Tuesday morning.

CCTV footage captured the incident which took place at her home on Rivington Lane, Horwich, at around 4am on Tuesday August 3.

The alleged thief can be seen entering the vehicle, which was left unlocked in the driveway, before "he took a jacket, an ipod mini, and a small amount of change".

Owner Becca said: "I don't think that these criminals think about the impact that their actions have on the victims.

"I called the police but they said that there's nothing they can do about it. It's a violation and a complete invasion of privacy."

"Apparently, there's a gang of around five men who have been targeting the area recently. I want to warn as many people in the area as possible to remain vigilant - you never know when something like this might happen to you."

It comes as a number of similar incidents have been reported in the area over the past few weeks.

Becca says that the thieves also stole a man's jacket from the car, but dumped it on the ground as they fled the scene.

And they also broke one of the padlocks to get into the oil tank - but did not take any oil.

She added: "We only got CCTV installed about a month ago.

"I've always been a bit of an over thinker. I don't think it's right that anyone should feel like they have to watch their back and worry all the time. You don't need that added stress in life.

"I was in tears when I found out this had happened."

Anyone with information regarding the incident should call 101 quoting crime reference number LC-2021-0803-0231.
