13 unlucky for Mr Fadden
Canberra â" Friday. Mr. Fadden, whose Government was defeated to-day, was the 13th Prime Minister since Federation. His Government was defeated 13 months after the election which led to the UAP and Country Party taking office. He was born on April 13 1895. Mr Fadden was Prime Minister for five weeks exactly. He claims the record for having been Prime Minister for a shorter period than any other, as he doesnât consider Sir Earl Page a contender.
Letters reveal war secrets
Public response to the frequent appeals by the military censorship authorities for the exercise of more care in what they write in letters for overseas has been disappointing. Eastern Command Headquarters stated last night that an almost complete story of Australiaâs war-time activity, especially that relating to the movement of ships and troops, convoys and dates of departure, was to be found daily in the mail. The public were warned to be more careful.
Photographic work
The Australian Womenâs Flying Club is enrolling voluntary members to be trained in photographic work, with a view to entering the W.A.A.A.F. in this mustering, should they be required. The course will be of about six-monthsâ duration, and will be undertaken with the co-operation of Kodak Ltd. Women between the ages of 18 and 40 years, who wish to enrol should call at the office of the Australian Womenâs Flying Club it was reported in the Herald.
